How has this crazy mixed-up world in which we live gotten us so disconnected from one another that we hope to meet someone that makes our pulse race, makes us weak in the knees, makes us swoon from the total lack of oxygen in the room every time they smile, as an anonymous string of bits n bytes, ones n zeroes?
Was this the desired result of hundreds of millions of years of evolution? Somehow I doubt it....
....What was, then? I don't have the answers, but I have some thoughts on the matter, you might even say convictions ( not the kind that a judge gives you, but strongly felt beliefs. But you knew what I meant, and I digress... )....People are better together. We all know this, but somehow the dreaded daily grind ( don't get me wrong, I actually love both my job and my career, I'm fortunate and I never lose sight of that fact ) causes us to forget this fundamental truth, or perhaps it's more so that we merely shelve it, the better to focus on the next requisite task inherent to our role of grown-up that we somehow find ourselves in, like it or not. But this truth lies within us still, no matter how many layers of veneer and/or cynicism may coat it, whether these layers come from just being too damn busy to find the time to meet anyone, or previous heartbreak, or just never seeming to meet that someone who can finish our sentences instinctively, who every second with is like Christmas morning and the greatest adventure ever combined, who makes our heart beat in gears we never even knew it possessed...And people are meant to love, we all know this...We all feel fully alive more so than at any other time when we're in love...And what does that mean?....We're all just everyday people doin the best we can, but we all also have these spectacular moments of brilliance, be they seconds, minutes, or months long, where who we are and what makes us all incredible shines in a dazzling radiance, and to that one somebody out there, these moments are the most elegant, most astounding, most sacred, mind-bendingly and breathtakingly gorgeous moments imaginable...And I believe that is what makes up a life, if we're lucky...An ordinary sequence of events interspersed with moments of indescribably wondrous this-makes-it-all-worth-it-without-a-doubt, all that I have to do in life, just being able to experience this with this person, right here and now

Have you ever wondered why it seems so difficult that when you really want to meet someone and to find that one person that you want to get to know, that you want to spend time with that opportunities never arise? I became single four years ago due to the death of my wife and after being married for over two decades I have found myself pondering this question. I am the first to admit that the dating world is new to me and nothing like I remember it being in the early eighties. I believe in having respect for others, old-fashioned romance, mutual laughter, and appreciating learning about someone else. I am not interested in quick hook-ups, causual encounters, or meeting someone in a relationship.
i have two daughters, both in their early twenties and they mean the world to me. After their mother died I chose not to date or meet anybody until I felt that they both had healed enough and that they were ready for me to start dating. Well it must be time becasue they both say, "Dad you need to find someone". It's funny how roles reverse and your children start worrying about you.
I am a w/m, 6'2" and 185lbs. I believe in working hard and being responsible yet realize that life is short and that you have to enjoy yourself also. I enjoy hiking, gardening, cooking, great conversation, and spending time with my dog. I have reached a pointt in my life that I want to find someone to share laughter, good times and bad times with, and get to know.
The type of woman I am hoping to meet believes in living an active lifestyle. I enjoy hiking, bike riding, and staying very active so it is important to me that you also like being very active. Hoping for a special friendship (Colorado Springs)
A few years ago I was fortunate enough to share a very "special friendship" with a single mom. We both led very busy lives but we agreed to set aside some time once a week to be together. It was a relationship based on genuine friendship, trust and respect, but it also had another element to it, I was able to help her with some of her financial worries. My brief summer break has just begun, and I don't really have much time to waste. I'm an attractive, fit, ambitious individual seeking something similar for company. Poet lost & searching for his Muse (NW Springs) 39yr
well to start off I'm 5'11" with brown hair & blue eyes, i weigh around 180 so i consider myself to be HWP. I've been single for far too long & frankly am tired of coming home at night after work to just a computer & TV for company. i'd like a woman that will take the time to get to know me for who & what i am before they pass judgment on me. due to certain extenuating circumstances with a previous relationship (12 yrs ago) i do not have a car nor can i drive as a result of this & certain state laws. I'm currently staying with friends, but I do work a part to full time job processing take out orders for restaurants. I've been told that I'm a hopeless romantic & the stereotypical nice guy - and we all know what happens to them right? i used to write poetry about the loves & losses in my life & now have a published book of them but haven't been inspired to write any in many years now.
