So who is to blame for men being men today? The answer is Capt. James T. Kirk. Men today are different then men of the past.
I think the art of being a grown man and being responsible is quickly fading into the past, possibly never to return.
There are many reasons for this but a classic example is Captain Kirk, yes this is a laugh out loud moment. He went wherever he wanted,
he disobeyed direct orders, blew shit up, started wars, invaded planets and was a self centered ego maniac. And the women: white, black,
Asian, even green and blue females. Talk about a misogynist!!!
Just as an experiment I decided if I could come up with a list of things that where I come from a man should be, act, and demonstrate.
A real guy should walk with a swagger and confidence of a man use to being right and a grin that shows he knows it.
I want to meet a woman and hopefully begin a friendship that will take us into a real and substantive relationship. Remember you have to
fall in love, you can't just jump into it. And yes I have made that mistake.
Over the last 24 hours I have kept a piece of paper with me and have attempted to document in my opinion just what a real man should be.
I myself am striving to do and be all of these things on a daily basis. Being a good person is easy, but it does require effort and work.
Some of this list is obvious, some funny, and some items are sad. But all of them are intended to make you smile, to laugh, and to reflect.
I hope you enjoy my observations.
WHERE I COME FROM A MAN SHOULD BE............................(no specific order)
-A real human being with feelings and flaws
-Have manners and demonstrate them including open doors, especially for his dates
-Bathe and groom on a regular basis, did I really have to write that? lol
-Not be a pillhead, a dopehead, or a drunk
-Have reliable transportation but nothing to flashy
-Be able to spell, spele, speel
-Be able to express himself emotionally, verbally, socially (in the context of a relationship)
-Knows his way around the kitchen
-Cleans up after himself and after others who makes messes.
-Goes to church, besides Easter and Christmas
-Be on time, that means don't be late, lol
-Tell the truth, be easy on the excuses
-Be literate
-Volunteer somewhere to help someone
-Be well informed of the world around us
-Be interested in things outside your own world.
-Be employed and or have regular income
-Know how to please a woman in more than one way
-Know that sex is more than just you getting a blow job
-Have some fashion sense, including wearing socks and underwear
-Like to take your girlfriend shopping. Burlington, Off Broadway shoes, Torrid. Help he pick out something hot!!
-Send flowers or buy a card for NO reason
-Smell good, Look good
-Still call your Mama on a regular basis if you can
-Have self respect and respect for others and appreciation for those with age and experience
-Be an excellent lover
-Know the difference between making out and making love but still know that nothing beats banging your brains out like teenagers!
-Know the significance of a red bottomed stiletto high heeled shoe
-Believe in chivalry
-Be smart and be sexy and handsome
-Do not overreact
-Be a good friend
-Be kind to, well everybody
-Be able to fix stuff and be mechanical
-Like to travel
-Like to bake, I do, lol
-Be dominate but not too much of an alpha male
-Be submissive
-Own a suit and tie and wear it other than a funeral
-Be mature but a kid at heart
-Must have spidy sense
-Don't need fixing
-Have faith, be verbal, show your feelings
-Have a code, have honor, be honest
-Have confidence and be courteous
These notes about myself and my list while completely true are meant to make you laugh and smile. There is nothing more beautiful than the human smile and the fact that despite all the crap, there are still things that can and do make us laugh.
I am not under some illusion that I don't have issues. That is all we have to remind us that we are human and are alive. I don't mind life being hard, it should be it's advanced survival, how we decide between the rock stars from the groupies. It is just all the drama I can live without.
One very important thing a man should be handy in the kitchen. Have a practical knowledge of how to cook, the tools, really know
how food cooks. Not defrost, not premade, not leftovers from your Mom's house from Sunday dinner.
There are only two activities in life in which we put lovingly and carefully put something inside of someone we love. Cooking is the one
we do three times a day for the rest of our lives. In both practice makes perfect. I would not be opposed to doing both three times a day!!! LOL.
