Mother With Son Requests Companionship (Eureka, Arcata, and beyond...) 29yr
Greetings!
Today seems like an appropriate day for posting a personal ad, as I just finished celebrating my first Mother's Day as a mom! My eleven-week-old son is the new focus of my world, so I suppose I'm hoping to find someone to share that focus with me. I'm not looking to rush into anything too serious too soon, but do not want any flings, either. What I'd like is a comfortable relationship with a monogamous boyfriend, founded on friendship and compatibility, with long term family potential (as I would like to eventually marry and sire a sibling for my son, LOL).
I have been single for the past nine months (with divorce now nearing finalization), and my scene, for the time being, is fairly fixed: I am living in Eureka with my son and indoor cat in the cottage behind my parents' house. I am presently not working due to a Workers' Compensation injury, which has provided me with some upper body limitations (and my 215 for the Humboldt green). Despite my limits, I have a propensity toward smiling and laughter, and am a person who enjoys her life, has fun responsibly, and strives to remain in a positive state of mind. I am a hopeful romantic who enjoys submersion in art, poetry and literature, and an eclectic blend of music. I am health-minded, eat natural foods, and exercise regularly (mostly dancing around my house these days, LOL, and walking (with my son in his stroller or in a carrier on my chest), but would also enjoy hiking if I had a partner). I usually stroll my son around the Saturday Farmer's Market in Arcata, though I do most of my food shopping at Eureka Natural Foods and the North Coast CO-OPs. This weekend, it was a nice treat to witness live music at the Humboldt Arts Festival. I am a homebody by nature, though, with my ideal date being a pleasant interlude at home preparing and sharing a meal while listening to music. I enjoy watching movies, too, and playing interactive games like Scrabble. Most of my activities lately, however, are oriented around my newborn, breast-feeding son, who is thriving in my care. I read aloud to him daily while he nurses, and we recently finished reading Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy (I still have not decided what novels to read to him next, so am interested in good book recommendations). We spent part of yesterday stamping our inked footprints together in honor of Mother's Day (exercising my Art degree from HSU, LOL).
I realize that Craigslist is a bit of a gamble, with the potential for e-mail spam and ill-posted slams, but I am optimistic about the possibility of connecting with a kind-hearted man whose life is compatible with mine. Stability is important to me, now more than ever, so I desire someone with income enough to be self-sufficient. I am fairly open-minded about looks, but would prefer a reasonably healthy person with decent hygiene who does not smoke cigarettes. I just got out of an LTR so I'm looking to meet some people for dates and see what happens from there. *I'm NOT 420 friendly because my experience shows that dates who smoke weed want ME to smoke weed... and I don't want to. I have no moral objections, but I don't want to be involved with someone who smokes marijuana.* For various reasons I am unable to have kids so if you want them, look elsewhere. I don't mind if you have them already, but I will not be giving birth.
My life revolves around animals and in the past I was always willing to let other people be neutral or apathetic about my pets... but no more. I'm looking for someone that WANTS to go for walks with me and my dogs. Someone who LIKES my cats and isn't allergic to my pets. If you believe that dogs live outside and ride in the beds of trucks, we are not going to be a good fit. I am currently fostering a dog and I occasionally foster "bottle babies" and pet sit, so it isn't just my animals you need to be okay with but ALL animals (except birds and spiders. They are creepy). I do a LOT of stuff with my dogs so I need someone in decent physical condition so you can do stuff with us too. I'm not asking for the perfect body, but at least be able to keep up with me when I walk.
As for the rest, I'm a bit of a tomboy and wear t-shirts and jeans. I occasionally wear makeup. I've been told I'm pretty and I'm sort of square shaped IMHO but I wear a size 4 so I'm in decent shape. I'm going back to school in the fall because I work like a dog (no insult to the fine canines in the world) and still have no money. I don't care how much money you make, or even if you have a job... however, I DO need you to have some direction in life. If you aren't working, hopefully you're looking for a job or going to school.
I am a huge nerd (for realsies) and I love anime, bad kung-fu movies, video games and Dr. Who (D10 is the best, EVER!). I do not care for Twilight. I am very liberal and VERY LGBT friendly, so I will not tolerate biogtry. I smoke occasionally (tobacco) and I drink occasionally but I don't make it a habit to get trashed every week, or even every month. My biggest weakness is coffee.

I could go on about my likes/dislikes but instead I'm going to give you some sample dialogues.
Me: Hey, I can't go out to the movies tonight. I have to bottle feed three abandoned kittens. I'm so sorry, maybe in two weeks we can go?
You: Hold it. I'm going to Safeway for Boston Creme Cake and then we're having a Dr. Who marathon at your place. I would love to help you feed kittens.
Me: Hey, it's a nice day. Want to go for a hike at the Headwaters?
You: Hell yes.
Me: Ooh! Cowboy Bebop movie! Let's get that one!
You: Awww... what about "Serenity?"
Me: I already have that one. Let's rent Cowboy Bebop and watch "Serenity" first.
Me: I just got attacked and killed by an Elder Dragon! Dammit!
You: Well, were you wearing your Nightengale armor? I know you have a tendency to leave Dragonrend in Markarth...
