To answer your question, chivalry is almost dead and is fast getting there. Others may disagree or flame this post for saying so because it's not "politically correct" (which is more often actually incorrect!), but women have effectively been killing off chivalry for awhile now. Because of this, guys no longer know what's accepted or even OK sometimes because women seem to be against such courtesies while at the same time taking offense when they are not given. They want it both ways when they want it and the guy is supposed to know when. Like you said, you want chivalry with a "little twist". If a guy holds a door for a woman or pulls out a chair etc. or any other similar nice courtesy (not superiority), he runs the risk of being called a male chauvanist pig. If he tries a little harmelss flirting or compliments a woman, he runs the risk of being accused of sexual harassment if she's not interested or foolishly takes offense rather than taking it as a compliment. If it happens in the work place, he runs the risk of losing his job. Women are much more able to flirt when they want at almost no risk, since very few guys will take offense. These behaviors don't mean the guy wants something, they are often just friendly gestures. Yes, they could lead to conversation and maybe even actually meeting someone new, but not necessarily. If it's flirting, it's just a way of letting someone know you might be interested. With these off the table, it's no wonder so many people find it almost impossible to meet someone and have a relationship. The conversation never gets started. As for dating being a two way street, you can believe what you want.. but it's really only a one way street and the women call all the shots in a relationship. A guy can only ask, all the rest is always up to the woman. Now if you're thinking I must be against Equal Rights, you're wrong, but Equal Rights should be just that.. Equal, not More than Equal. Ask yourself why some banks have special products just for women and women business owners? Technically it's illegal according to the Constitution (it's gender discrimination), but isn't challenged because Women's Rights is such a big issue and to question this practice would be.. hmm.. "politically incorrect". Ask any guy that's been divorced, lost his home and kids and pays a large chunk of his meager income to his ex. Women have figured out it's financially beneficial to marry (or not marry) that tall-handsome-jerk-bad-boy type, have kids and then get rid of him for the alimony. But then maybe that's partly due to mental hard-wiring and natural selection.. Mate with big-tall-agressive guys to produce big-strong babies, then you can always dump them later. Pro Choice as it's called is another area where guys have no say. First the woman had to select him for the relationship or whatever, then it's completely up to her if they have sex. If she says no then it's not happening or it's rape. If he says no then she labels him as gay and of course tells everyone she knows, which of course puts a damper on his future chances at a relationship. Nice choice he has. Then there's the choice whether to use any birth control, but here there is a choice for each. If a pregnancy is the result, again the guy has no say as to whether the baby is kept or aborted. If kept (married or not) the guy again has no say and is supposed to provide child support whether the child was wanted or not (remember he didn't have as much choice whether or not to actually have sex or risk being labeled). It goes on and one. That's a lot of Choices for the woman isn't it? We are fast becoming a Queen Bee Society and the average guy is just a third class citizen. So in answer, yes chivalry is almost dead.. but then that's what everyone wanted right? Afterall, it's "politically correct".

Seems as though the older i get, the more difficult it is to find a decent man. Life is so short, why do so many men choose to live like teenagers? Choosing to not work, don't have a vehicle and have no motivation to be something in this life. I have looked on occassion at the posts on here and am quite amazed at how many posts are from married men, or men looking for sex only. At the end of the day, sex is probably not going to provide long term happiness. There is more needed to maintain happiness.

I have met many "men" in my time. And as i mentioned, the majority have been bums. Living home still, no job, no car and no way to really ever invest financially in me or a relationship. I'm not looking for diamonds, but being with someone who can't even buy me a drink is pathetic. But another thing i have noticed is that the older i get, the crazier the men are. Purely psycho it seems. Talking marriage after a week or two and stalking me, breaking into my apt. Not exactly the stable type of guy i'd prefer.

So about me.... single mom, been at the same job for almost a decade. Living on my own and providing as best i can for my kids. I'm shy and don't like the party scene at all. How does one meet someone new now-a-days? Me... not really into the bar scene, but I do enjoy sitting on a nice patio during the summer. I am quiet at first until you get to know me. I am very easy going and try to always have fun. One has much fun in life as one allows. I love live music, this area is the best for it in the summer. Trying again (god only knows why ) 39yr

I have made some very LARGE life changes in my life over the past 6 yrs . These changes have made it so I can do things that will continue to make me challange myself and make myself stronger ,confident and most of all happier!! I love the outdoors . Talkative nerd looking for someone to geek out with. (Albany) 25yr

I love just hanging out, whether it be in a small group of friends, or one on one. Parties can be nice, as can bars, eating out, and concerts but I am admittedly more of a homebody. My big event for May is going to see The Avengers...more than likely multiple times because that's how I roll.
